Middle Georgia State University Announces Commencement Speakers For Spring Ceremonies

Regional leaders in healthcare, preservation advocacy, economic innovation, wellness, and the military will share advice and inspirational thoughts with graduates as Middle Georgia State University’s (MGA’s) commencement speakers for the Class of 2025.

About 715 students are candidates for spring graduation. Five ceremonies are scheduled over a two-day period: Wednesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 8. All ceremonies will take place at the Recreation & Wellness Center on MGA’s Macon Campus and livestreamed at mga.edu/live.

The commencement speakers:

Wednesday, May 7, 2025

9:30 am– Latasha T. Hill, Breast Imaging Service Line Manager for Atrium Health Navicent 

Hill oversees daily operations, manages multidisciplinary teams, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and implements cutting-edge imaging technologies to enhance patient outcomes. Passionate about community engagement, she successfully wrote a congressional spending grant to secure funding for the Mobile Mammography Program, improving access to breast cancer screening for underserved communities.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Radiological Science from Georgia Southern University and is pursuing a master’s degree in healthcare leadership. Hill is certified as an ARRT Registered Technologist in Radiography and Mammography and is a Certified Clinical Breast Imaging Navigator.

12:30 pm– Tracie Revis, Director of Advocacy for Ocmulgee National Park & Preserve Initiative 

A licensed attorney and citizen of the Yuchi and Muscogee tribes from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Revis is director of advocacy for the Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative, a movement to create Georgia's first national park and make the Muscogee tribe co-manager of their ancestral homelands. She previously served as the first female chief of staff for Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief David Hill, following roles as acting tribal administrator, acting secretary of housing and gaming commissioner.

Revis earned her Juris Doctor (JD) and tribal law certificate from the University of Kansas School of Law. She served as a congressional intern for Arizona Rep. aul Grijalva.

3:30 pm - Debra Lam, Founding Director of Partnership for Inclusive Innovation

Lam's organization is a statewide public-private partnership committed to investing in innovative solutions for shared economic prosperity. She continues to lead smart communities and urban innovation work at Georgia Tech. Prior to this, she served as Pittsburgh’s inaugural Chief of Innovation & Performance where she oversaw all technology, sustainability, performance, and innovation functions of city government.

She has received various awards, including being named one of the top 100 most influential people in digital government by Apolitcal.

A graduate of Georgetown University and the University of California, Berkeley, Lam serves on the board of the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta and was most recently appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce to the Internet of Things Advisory Board.

9:30 am– Kitty Robinson, Author & Wellness Coach 

As a heart and brain surgery survivor, Robinson is no stranger to struggle but, as a mom of eight, Christian, marathoner, and wellness expert, she is also no stranger to joy. Her health challenges have inspired her to use her love of storytelling to spread a message of wellness through writing and speaking that encourages others to follow a holistic approach to an abundant life through laughter, connection, movement, and gratitude.

Robinson is the author of two books, Sometimes Courage and The Runaway Housewives of the Appalachian Trail. She graduated from MGA with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is finishing up her master's degree in Marriage and Family therapy as she continues to coach others in wellness through yoga, run coaching, and speaking.

12:30 pm– John C. Kubinec, State Veterans Service Board Member

Retired Brig. Gen. Kubinec was the Commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, Robins Air Force Base, from 2016 to 2020. As commander, he served a world-class workforce of 8,000 military and civilian professionals. He received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1992. He is a career aircraft/munitions maintenance officer and has commanded at the squadron, group, and wing levels as well as served in key staff positions at the Center, Major Command, Headquarters Air Force, and Combatant Command levels.

Prior to his last position, he served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, and Commander of United States European Command.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp appointed Kubinec to the State Veterans Service Board in 2020.
