Annual Light More Homes Christmas Celebration to benefit Macon Area Habitat for Humanity’s mission to eliminate substandard housing.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we work toward our mission of homeownership at Habitat, including a pause of volunteer opportunities and limitations on fundraisers. Light More Homes has been a holiday tradition for over a decade, and we are grateful for the creativity of our partners, which has allowed us to offer two ways for you to participate this year. Based on your comfort level, you can participate from home with Light More Homes @ Home presented by Chick-fil-A or visit our in-person light display at its new home, Mercer Village, presented by Live @ Lofts.

“We hope all who experience it will get a glimpse of the joy and love that came to Earth more than two thousand years ago” said Chuck Hammock, AH&P partner, light display designer and Macon Area Habitat for Humanity Board member. The display will consist of a canopy of synchronized lights scheduled to display starting November 27th.

This holiday season-long event will take place at Mercer Village on Montpelier Ave. until January 4, 2021 during normal evening operating hours.

This year’s live light display is made possible through a generous sponsorship from Sierra Development Group Inc. – LIVE AT LOFTS. “When we first met with Habitat for Humanity, it was proposed that this wonderful tradition be carried over to Mercer Village. We didn’t hesitate.” says Jim Daws, Sierra Development’s president. “Considering what a great organization Habitat for Humanity is and our desire to always give back to this wonderful community, we jumped at the opportunity. This is sure to be a fantastic community event for Macon residents and tourists. The display will shed light on the amazing work of Habitat for Humanity.”

The community is also invited to celebrate at home through the Light More Homes @ home virtual event starting November 27th, 2020.

Neighbors across Macon-Bibb are invited to participate in Light More Homes @ home, sponsored by long time Light More Homes partner Chick-fil-A, by decorating their house and entering for a raffle give-away. By donating $20, families receive a yard sign to display their participation in the virtual event, and can share photos of their décor on Habitat's Light More Homes @ Home online platform and on the13WMAZ Near Me App. The donation also enters families in a raffle give-away to be drawn at the end of the event.  Registration for Light More Homes @ home opens online at maconhabitat.org on November 27th.
