VA Announces Interim Medical Center Director David Van Meter in Dublin

The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the temporary appointment of David VanMeter as the interim director of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center here. VanMeter will oversee health care delivery to more than 34,000 Veterans with a workforce of more than 1,200 employees. The CVVAMC is a 340-bed facility with an operating budget of approximately $229 million and serves 49 counties in Georgia.

“Mr. VanMeter is a superstar when it comes to taking care of Veterans,” said Veterans Integrated Service Networks Southeast Network Director Leslie Wiggins. “He is extremely qualified to maintain the standards the VA has put in place.”

Throughout VanMeter’s career, he has demonstrated the management ability to lead complex organizations, motivate employees, manage resources, and work successfully with widely varied stakeholder groups.

Mr. VanMeter was appointed as the Deputy Director of James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, Florida and its surrounding Clinics in January 2016. He also has been serving as the Associate Director since March 2013. Prior to his transfer to Tampa, Mr. VanMeter served as the Assistant Director of the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, a level 1C complexity cardiothoracic and endovascular referral center for VISN 15. He has served in the VA in various capacities of increasing supervisory and fiscal responsibility for 14 years and his experience spans diverse operations and services.
