Human Resources Department Attending Local Job Fair May 10th

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, May 9th, 2018

Macon-Bibb County’s Human Resources Department will take part in a local job fair on Thursday, May 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Goodwill’s Anderson Conference Center (5171 Eisenhower Parkway).

Representatives from the Human Resources Department are focusing on Deputy Sheriff and Firefighter openings, but people are able to inquire about any open positions in the government. People can meet with individuals interested in these positions and explain to them the application and hiring process, as well as special requirements to be a Deputy Sheriff or Firefighter.

“Public Safety is one of the top priorities for Macon-Bibb County, as evidenced by the amount of money allocated to it each year in our budget, and we need to take every opportunity to go into the community and recruit for these very important positions,” says Director of Human Resources Ben Hubbard. “We also want to make sure people are aware of all positions that we have open.”

In recent weeks, any open position in the government has had to be reviewed by the County Manager, Director of Human Resources, Director of Finance, and Assistant to the County Manager for Budget & Strategic Planning to determine if the position needed to be filled immediately to ensure smooth operations and if the funds were available. Of the more than 100 requests for a position to be filled, fewer than 20 have been approved. (This does not include public safety employees in the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, or E-911). For a list of open positions, click here.
