Cox Communications hosted its annual Inspirational Student Hero Awards in Bibb County this week, at Bibb County School District’s Professional Learning Center in Macon.  Cox recognized 27 students from Bibb County who have overcome extreme challenges in life to serve as an inspiration to their teachers, administrators and fellow students.
 
The Cox Inspirational Student Hero Awards program began 25 years ago in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The program has spread to other Cox markets in the Southeast Region, and is now celebrating its fourth year in Bibb County.  To date, Cox has recognized more than 3,500 students from Lafayette, Louisiana, to Gainesville, Florida.
 
The students were chosen by a committee of leaders at their school.  During the event, Cox presented the students with an engraved medal and certificates of honor.  This year’s award recipients are:
