Mount de Sales Academy Officially Cuts Ribbon on New Sports Performance Center and Trackman Golf Simulator

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, November 5th, 2026

Catholic private school, Mount de Sales Academy, located in Macon, Georgia, announced the official opening of the Sports Performance Center and the Trackman Golf Simulator at its downtown campus this afternoon.

Alumni, donors, board members, and guests toured the new spaces, joined by 10 student-athletes representing the many students who will benefit from these facilities for years to come. Developing both spaces during the school’s 150th anniversary year advances the school’s strategic plan by supporting its goals of enhancing campus spaces and strengthening Cavalier pride through athletics.

The new Sports Performance Center is located in Cavalier Hall. It was originally a laundry space used by the Sisters of Mercy, who founded Mount de Sales Academy in 1876. Director of Sports Performance Mike Walton, class of ’99, led the project. In a meaningful full-circle moment, the space returns to its original purpose from when Mr. Walton was a student: a weight room. Now he will help lead the next generation of Cavaliers in that same space.

“We did the work to build this. Now it’s up to the students to do the work to be the best you can be for the court, the field, the pool, or the green.” Walton shared.

The Trackman Golf Simulator resides in Cavalier Cottage, formerly Gray Cottage. Golf Coach Mr. Craig Carroll, class of 2011, said, “We had a great turnout to see our new Golf simulator and the excitement it is bringing to our students. Our golfers will now have the ability to practice year-round, as well as play actual rounds of golf.” Mount de Sales Academy is the only middle and high school in Middle Georgia with the Trackman golf simulator.

We invite guests to tour Mount de Sales Academy and see our new spaces. We have an Open House event on Thursday, November 12, from 5:30-7:30 PM, serving grades 6-12.
