EmployAbility, a Savannah-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has been recognized as the No. 1 Supported Employment Provider in Georgia by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).

The recognition was celebrated during DBHDD's National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) event on October 27, 2026, at the Tubman Museum in Macon, Georgia. The annual event recognizes employees with disabilities, employers, advocates and supported employment professionals who are advancing inclusive employment opportunities throughout the state.

The statewide honor comes at a particularly meaningful time for EmployAbility as the organization celebrates its 75th anniversary, marking decades of service, advocacy and commitment to creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Coastal Georgia.

"To be recognized as the top supported employment provider in Georgia is an incredible honor and a testament to the dedication of our entire team," said Brendan Ferrara, President and CEO of EmployAbility. "Every day, our staff works alongside individuals with disabilities and community employers to create meaningful opportunities for employment, independence and personal growth. This recognition reflects the relationships we have built, the employers who believe in our mission and, most importantly, the individuals whose hard work and accomplishments inspire us every day."

Through its Workforce Development Programs, EmployAbility connects individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to meaningful career opportunities while providing individualized job training, career coaching and ongoing workplace support.

The organization partners with more than 100 employers across its seven-county service area, including Gulfstream, Leopold's Ice Cream, St. Joseph's/Candler and Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. EmployAbility's Career Coaches work alongside employees and employers to develop workplace skills, support professional growth and build successful, lasting employment relationships.

For 75 years, EmployAbility has worked to foster independence, build confidence and expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This latest recognition reinforces the organization's ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive workforce and strengthening the communities it serves.

"As we celebrate 75 years of EmployAbility, this award is a powerful reminder of why our work matters," Ferrara added. "We are proud of how far we have come, but even more excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue working to ensure individuals of all abilities have the chance to contribute, succeed and thrive."
