Friday, October 23rd, 2026
State Representative Chuck Martin received a 2026 “Champion of Georgia’s Cities Award” from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in recognition of his support for Georgia’s cities during the 2025–2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly. The award was presented during the Alpharetta City Council meeting on Monday, October 19.
The “Champion of Georgia’s Cities Award” is presented at the end of each two-year legislative term to state legislators who have demonstrated strong support for major municipal initiatives and priorities.
During the 2025–2026 legislative term, Representative Martin supported key municipal priorities through his work to advance Next Generation 911, helping strengthen Georgia’s emergency communications system and support local governments as they prepare for the transition to modernized 911 technology.
He also worked closely with GMA and municipal leaders during discussions surrounding property tax and sales tax policy, helping ensure the fiscal impacts on cities and local services were considered as lawmakers evaluated potential changes. His work in the General Assembly helped advance issues important to cities and the residents they serve across Georgia.
“We greatly appreciate Representative Martin’s support for Georgia’s cities and his willingness to work with municipal leaders on issues that directly impact their communities,” said GMA CEO and Executive Director Larry Hanson. “His leadership and commitment to strong local government have made him a valuable partner to cities across our state.”
GMA State Relations Manager Noah Roenitz and Governmental Relations Specialist Katrina Cochran presented the award to Representative Martin on behalf of the association.
Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to more than 500 member cities.
