Art and Music
Macon Arts Alliance is excited to present their October exhibit, “Art and Music,” featuring works by local painter Warren Griffin. In his time playing oboe, Warren Griffin met many fellow skilled musicians whom he greatly admired, and this experience prompted him to choose musicians and musical groups as subjects for his art, many of which are featured in “Art and Music”.

Join us for the opening reception of “Art and Music” at the Macon Arts Gallery from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm! Check out Warren Griffin’s art, enjoy complimentary drinks, and stick around until 6:00 pm to hear an exclusive Artist Talk.

“Art and Music” will be available to view from October 2 to October 30.

The gentle vibrations and meditative soundscape help quiet the mind, encourage relaxation, and allow creativity to flow naturally.

This immersive session will be led by Sarah Payton of Positive Sound Vibes. Sarah is a certified sound practitioner, vocal coach, and integrative wellness professional who offers trauma-informed sound experiences designed to support relaxation, grounding, and overall well-being.

Join us every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Historic Grant’s Lounge for an open mic Storytelling event – 10 years and going strong!

Socials start at 6:30 pm | Stories start at 7:00 pm
Topic: How I Got Here

Have you ever looked at your life and wondered, “How did I get here?”

Not just the places you’ve been, but the people, experiences, choices, and moments that shaped who you are today.
This October, during Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re exploring the stories behind our journeys. The people who influenced us. The cultures that shaped us. The moments that changed our direction. And the experiences that helped make us who we are.

Our featured teller is Paula Berenguer Aguirre. She will share a deeply personal story about the Latina woman who helped shape the woman she is today. Through her story, we’ll be reminded that sometimes “How I Got Here” isn’t about a destination. It’s about the people and experiences that helped us become who we are.

Join us every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Historic Grant’s Lounge.

Creative Recess
When was the last time you made something simply because it sounded fun?

Somewhere along the way, many of us began believing that creativity had to be productive. That every painting should be frame-worthy, every idea should become a business, and every creative hour should lead to something useful.

But what if creativity didn’t have to accomplish anything?

What if making something was enough?

Creative Recess is a four-session creative gathering inspired by Prioritizing Play by Rachael Renae facilitated by Hillary Seibel and Erin Hawkins.

Each session focuses on one of the book’s four sections. Before we meet, you’ll read that week’s assigned section, then gather with the group for thoughtful discussion, reflection, and a playful creative exploration inspired by the book’s themes.
This isn’t about becoming a better artist. It’s about reconnecting with the joy of making, embracing curiosity, and remembering what it feels like to create just because you can.

Whether you haven’t picked up a paintbrush in years or creativity is already part of your life, you’ll find a welcoming space to slow down, experiment, laugh a little, and give yourself permission to play.

What to Expect
Each session includes:
Thoughtful conversation inspired by the reading
Gentle reflection prompts
A hands-on creative exploration designed for curiosity, not perfection
Encouragement, conversation, and community
A simple “Play Invitation” to take with you into the week ahead

No artistic experience is necessary. You don’t even have to consider yourself creative. Just bring an open mind and a willingness to experiment.

Schedule
Tuesdays 6-7:30pm
September 22nd, 29th, October 6th, and 13th. Approximately 1.5 hours (With optional extra studio time if you want to keep creating.)

What You’ll Need
A copy of Prioritizing Play by Rachael Renae—grab yours for 10% off through our friends at Bear’s Books (purchase yours here)

An open mind and a willingness to play
