Happy Dog Duo—pianists Eric Tran and Nathan Cheung—has performed four-hands classics, originals, and transcriptions for two decades, with a focus on bringing humor and joy to the classical music world. Their performances have taken them across Europe, Asia, and 20 US states, and they have appeared on Aspen Public Radio, WQXR, and NPR. Recent invitations include guest performances at Stanford University, the Chautauqua Institution, Juilliard, and Carnegie Hall. Their duo name comes from their first joint composition: “Happy Dog.”

“Through the invisible hands of music, the soul is touched and healed,” Josephine “Jo” Phelps Fabian said. In her life, Fabian was a dedicated arts patron, donor, board member, and advocate who loved classical music and opera. She frequently attended concerts at Townsend School of Music. Through The Fabian Center for Musical Excellence, the Jubilee Artists Series features leading artists performing concerts that are low cost to the general public, making the best of music available to all.

Steps of Hope
The River Edge Foundation is proud to announce its inaugural Steps of Hope fundraiser/awareness walk, a community event dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, supporting substance use disorder recovery, honoring lives lost, and celebrating those in recovery.

More than a walk, Steps of Hope is an opportunity for individuals, families, friends, advocates, and community partners to come together in support of those affected by mental health challenges and substance use disorders. The event will honor the memories of those we have lost, stand beside those who continue to face challenges, and celebrate the strength, resilience, and hope of those in recovery.

Designed as a positive, family-oriented event, Steps of Hope aims to encourage open conversations, increase awareness, and help reduce the stigma surrounding behavioral health issues.

“At River Edge, we believe everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, supported, and valued,” said Mia M. Geiger, Director of Development for the River Edge Foundation. “Steps of Hope brings our community together to honor loved ones, support those who are struggling, celebrate recovery, and remind people that hope and healing are possible.”

Attendees will also learn about the services and resources available through River Edge Behavioral Health, including mental health treatment, substance use disorder services, recovery support, crisis services, and other community-based programs.

Every step taken during the walk represents a commitment to hope, compassion, and the belief that no one should face these challenges alone.

Silverada
Mike Harmeier was still in his early 20s when he formed Mike and the Moonpies, now Silverada. From the start, they were the definition of a workingman’s country band, cutting their teeth with five-hour sets on Austin’s dancehall circuit before spreading their music to the rest of America. By the early 2020s, they’d become global ambassadors of homegrown Texas music, flying their flag everywhere from Abbey Road Studios (where they recorded 2019’s Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold with help from the London Symphony Orchestra) to the Grand Ole Opry.

Their music balances the strengths they’ve accumulated along the way — sharp, detailed songwriting that bounces between autobiographical sketches and character studies; gorgeous swells of pedal steel that drift through the songs like weather; a rhythm section capable of country shuffles, hard-charging rock & roll tempos, and everything in between — with a willingness to break old rules and open new doors.

There’s a smart sense of history here — a celebration not only of where the band is headed, where they’ve been, too. Even so, Silverada doesn’t spend much time looking in the rearview mirror. Instead, it keeps its gaze focused on the road ahead. This is a snapshot of a band in motion, chasing down the next horizon, writing the soundtrack to some new discovery. It’s the sound of alchemy, of some new metal being forged. And like silver itself, Silverada shines brightly.
