Environmental Group Defends Plans for Georgia Passenger Train as Residents Hope for More Ways to Travel

As buses pull away from the station, Eddie Hightower wishes he had another option for traveling outside the city: a train.
“I love the train and I grew up on trains,” Hightower said.
Originally from New York City, Hightower is familiar with riding the rails. Now living in Macon, he wants the option to take a train to destinations such as Atlanta.
“They need to bring it here ASAP,” he said.
Report makes the case for passenger rail
In 2022, federal and state dollars were announced for an intercity rail project stretching from Atlanta to Savannah.
