Kristi Riley had no idea she was about to be surprised during a regular school day at Peach County High School — but her 21 years of dedication to her students had earned her a special recognition that left her speechless.

Riley, a business and technology pathway teacher and FBLA advisor, has been named a recipient of 13WMAZ's "My Teacher is Tops" award, a distinction that celebrates educators who make an extraordinary impact on their students' lives and their school communities.

The nomination came as a complete shock to Riley, who was called to the front office where she learned of the honor.

"Complete surprise, complete surprise," Riley said of receiving the award. "This is year 21, so it's first time ever."
