Macon Arts Alliance is proud to present their September show, “In Tandem”, featuring works by husband-and-wife painter duo Jeff and Laura Surace. Together, Jeff and Laura create artwork inspired by the natural world, celebrating the enduring connection between people, place, and light.
Join us for the opening reception of “In Tandem” on First Friday, September 4, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm!
“In Tandem” will be available to view from September 4 to September 25.

Paint & Sip
Learn to create a watercolor painting in a fun, relaxed setting. No painting experience required. Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. Award-winning artist, Scott Serafy, will guide you through the steps to paint one of various subjects (florals, cityscapes, landscapes, still lifes). We are in our third year of offering these paint-and-sips!
For September, we had participant requests for a Margaritaville scene, and some suggestions submitted, in the style of the picture(s) shown here. These will be our models for this session as we say goodbye to summer (and the late Jimmy Buffett)! $30 includes all materials for the class. The workshop starts at 7pm and goes for 2 hours. There are 10 spots available for the class.

WHAT IS PLAY STREETS MACON?
Play Streets Macon is a community-driven initiative that empowers residents to temporarily close their streets to through traffic, creating a safe space for play, connection, and family-friendly activities. The program is inspired by Bike Walk Macon’s popular Open Streets Macon initiative. Play Streets is a fantastic opportunity to reclaim the streets and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with your neighbors!
Neighborhood activities include:
Safe car-free space for play, interaction, and socializing
Lawn games and engaging activity partners
Hands-on traffic-calming installation
Learn about neighborhood initiatives from Habitat for Humanity and Historic Macon and so much more!

How can you get involved?
Volunteer for the traffic-calming project – We will need residents and neighbors like you to volunteer and help us to add vibrancy to our streets by implementing traffic-calming elements to Napier Avenue. Watch for the volunteer sign-up form to be posted on the Facebook event page soon!

Corks & Canvas is a fun, beginner-friendly painting workshop where you can relax and hang out with friends while a local artist teaches you how to recreate a beautiful painting. No painting experience required. Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. The cost is $30, and includes all materials for an 11 x 14 painting (or $35 for a 16 x 20 painting). The workshops start at 7 pm and lasts two and a half hours. On September 26, our instructor Dee Washington will teach a painting of blue ridge mountains in the fall-time at sunset.

Join us on September 29 for our annual High School Tenor/Bass Festival! This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to build community and see how fun choral singing really can be. Students will be provided music for the festival, as well as lunch and a t-shirt.
