Macon Arts Alliance is proud to present their September show, “In Tandem”, featuring works by husband-and-wife painter duo Jeff and Laura Surace. Together, Jeff and Laura create artwork inspired by the natural world, celebrating the enduring connection between people, place, and light.
Join us for the opening reception of “In Tandem” on First Friday, September 4, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm!

Corks & Canvas
Corks & Canvas is a fun, beginner-friendly painting workshop where you can relax and hang out with friends while a local artist teaches you how to recreate a beautiful painting. No painting experience required. Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. The cost is $30, and includes all materials for an 11 x 14 painting (or $35 for a 16 x 20 painting). The workshops start at 7 pm and lasts two and a half hours. On September 11, our instructor Molly Fox will teach a painting of a luna moth under a full moon.

Fractal Friday
Fractal Friday is BACK!
MAS will partner with the Fractal Foundation (Albuquerque, NM) to present these innovative art-infused science experiences in the planetarium which immerse audiences in flights through fractal animations (or complex, never-ending geometric patterns that repeat at different scales). Each experience is unique and showcases repeating patterns of fractals that have been augmented with dramatic flight movements and dynamic color cycling – plus live presenters offering information about the mathematical formulas that define fractals occurring in nature, from the growth of the tiniest plant up to the shapes of galaxies!
The 6 p.m. performance is for family audiences and describe what fractals are and where they can be found. The 7:15 p.m. showing will be “Fractals Rock,” which is a more experiential production.

Master Gardeners of Central Georgia Fall Plant Sale
Master Gardeners of Central Georgia are hosting our FALL PLANT SALE which raises money for the volunteer group to educate families on gardening and beautify the community. The sale in offered in the spring and fall and often folks will find rare plants, all of which are grown by the Master Gardeners of Central Georgia, an all-volunteer organization.
Meet the Master Gardeners and pick out plants on Saturday, September 12 from 9:00-4:00 at the Macon State Farmers Market – 2055 Eisenhower Parkway in Macon.
Or you can RESERVE your plants early at the Online Pre-Sales from 8/29 – 9/6 and pick up your special reserved plants during the sale hours.

Mug Painting at Sweet Eleanor's
We’re offering pottery painting at Sweet Eleanor’s! Paint a ceramic mug with your own colorful designs. Even if you’re not feeling creative, that’s ok–our instructor will show you some simple examples to inspire you. Enjoy coffee and pastries from Sweet Eleanor’s while you paint. After painting your mug, it will be fired in The 567’s kiln and ready to be used at home 1-2 weeks later. Finished mugs can be picked up at The 567 Center. The cost is $25 and includes one 12 oz. mug and painting supplies (refreshments must be purchased from Sweet Eleanor’s). Open to ages 10 and up (children must be accompanied by a participating adult).

Tweens can get a behind-the-scenes look at Washington Memorial Library’s day-to-day operations by signing up for this four-month program series.
Sign up for a new library experience designed especially for tweens! Patrons ages 10-13 are invited to join our YA and Children’s Specialists for a four-month adventure exploring everything that happens behind the library desk. This program will take place on the second Saturday of every month from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, September through December.
Discover new books, suggest ideas for future library programs and collections, learn how librarians help readers find their next favorite book, and navigate the journey from chapter books to our Young Adult collection!

Macon Film Guild Presents: "Two Prosecutors"
In the USSR in 1937, a newly appointed prosecutor discovers an undestroyed letter from a prisoner that reveals corruption in the secret police, the NKVD. His search for the truth becomes dangerous.
The latest film from the famed Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa (My Joy) adapts a novel by Soviet writer and political prisoner Georgy Demidov, set in the Soviet Union in 1937. It follows the attempts of a government-appointed prosecutor (Alexander Kuznetsov) to expose the mistreatment of a dissident Bolshevik writer who has been jailed and tortured without evidence of wrongdoing. As he gradually comes to realize, the lack of cause for the man’s imprisonment is hardly unique under Stalin’s regime, and the lawyer may be putting himself in danger by exposing his own righteousness.

Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration
Celebrate the cultures of the Southeastern Native Americans at the Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration.
Join us for the Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration, a vibrant celebration of Southeastern Native American cultures, at Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park on September 12-13, 2026. This FREE family-friendly event will feature traditional dance, cultural crafts, storytelling, educational programs, live demonstrations, and music, offering a unique opportunity to experience Native American heritage.
Explore arts and crafts from Native American vendors and enjoy delicious food available for purchase. The celebration honors the Muscogee people, who consider Ocmulgee Mounds their ancestral homeland. This homecoming event brings together various Native American tribes, blending both traditional and contemporary elements to celebrate the beauty and vital contributions of Native Peoples to Georgia and the Southeast.
Visitors will also have the chance to rediscover Ocmulgee Mounds, the Earth Lodge, the Visitor Center Museum, trails, and the park’s natural beauty.

This book club offers a relaxed, community-driven gathering where participants share, discuss, and celebrate whatever book they are currently reading. Join us for this monthly program beginning on Monday, September 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
This program aims to support adult literacy, and increase public visibility and community-wide support for the library by meeting patrons in vibrant, everyday spaces outside traditional library walls. By partnering with local businesses like Sweet Eleanor’s, the library continues to build inclusive, accessible community spaces that encourage social connection and a shared love of reading across middle Georgia.
