After discussions related to recent school consolidation options, the Bibb County School District is
pausing consideration of scenarios previously shared at the August 10 Bibb County Board of Education Meeting.

This means that there will be no consolidation recommendation to the Board of Education at this time.
As a next step, the district will launch a new advisory committee process to support the school consolidation
exploration. The advisory committee will be composed of board members, district leaders and consultants who
will determine evaluation criteria, review data, examine community feedback, consider multiple perspectives, ask

questions, and help guide the development of any future options.
“The purpose of this new approach is to ensure that the process remains data-informed, transparent and

community-centered,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan A. Sims. “Any future recommendations will be shaped through
additional review, thoughtful discussion and continued engagement with the school communities most directly
impacted.”

While full details of the new committee’s structure and membership are not complete at this time, it will be
composed of Board of Education members, District leaders and other consultants. Community members will also
be made aware of future opportunities to provide input and ask questions.
