Baldwin County Faces $15 Million Budget Shortfall as County Considers Property Tax Hike

Homeowners in Baldwin County could soon see impacts from the county's budget crisis on their property tax bill.

Interim County Manager Paul Van Haute says the county is now $15 million in the hole with no way to pay it back.

"I hate that I've gotta give you this," Van Haute said. "But this is it." 

Back in February, commissioners fired former County Manager Carlos Tobar.

Audits then found millions in untracked spending and months of missed payments.
