Houston County Schools to Spend Nearly $3 Million on New Safety Measures

Houston County school officials say nearly $3 million will be spent on new safety measures as the district prepares to add metal detectors and security guards at its middle and high schools.
The Houston County School District announced last week that metal detectors would be installed at every middle and high school, as well as stadiums and competition gyms. The district also plans to add a security guard at each middle school, high school and the Houston College & Career Academy.
Safety Director Del Martin told 41NBC the district is also reviewing additional cameras, alarms and controlled entrances as part of its ongoing security efforts.
