Historic Macon Neighborhood Debates Law Office Proposal

A dispute over a proposed law office in a historic Jefferson Terrace home is raising questions about how Macon-Bibb Planning & Zoning can balance business owners’ needs with preserving the residential nature of its historic neighborhoods.
The Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission deferred a decision on attorney Matthew Cook’s request to use 1231 Jefferson Terrace as a professional office.
The InTown Macon Neighborhood Association opposes the request. Several association members spoke to the commission Monday, including spokesperson Forrest Watson, urging commissioners to reject the proposal and protect the historic neighborhood.
