Flint Energies CEO Resigns

During the July 2026 meeting of Flint Energies Board of Directors, President and CEO Jeremy Nelms announced his resignation as he has been selected as Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation’s next President and Chief Executive Officer. Nelms has been President and CEO of Flint since October 2020. While several men served as general managers in Flint’s early years, Nelms is only the sixth CEO who has managed Flint Electric Membership Corporation since 1937.
“Flint is fortunate to have Jeremy Nelms as CEO. He has led Flint during some significant challenges over recent years, including a pandemic, a fiber network build and our new Service Center build. We will certainly miss his leadership at the helm of this growing system and his enthusiasm for the cooperative difference. We are grateful for his tenure here and wish him and his family much happiness,” said Neal Talton, Flint Energies Board Chairman.
Nelms possesses more than 20 years of leadership experience in the electric cooperative industry, serving cooperatives in Georgia and Florida. Prior to joining Flint Energies, he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Blue Ridge Mountain EMC. Nelms has led major infrastructure and broadband initiatives at both BRMEMC and Flint Energies. In addition, he has served in statewide cooperative leadership roles.
Nelms holds both a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Wireless Engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from Florida State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia and Florida.
Flint Energies’ Board of Directors will conduct an extensive nationwide search for the Cooperative’s next President and Chief Executive Officer. Nelms will continue to work for Flint until January 27, 2027.
