Joie Debris - Art Beyond Waste
Macon Arts Alliance is excited to present their August exhibit, “Joie Debris — Art Beyond Waste”, a group exhibit that explores the beauty, creativity, and possibilities found in discarded materials.
Join us on First Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm for our opening reception! Enjoy complimentary refreshments and check out works from over 30 artists!

Corks & Canvas
Corks & Canvas is a fun, beginner-friendly painting workshop where you can relax and hang out with friends while a local artist teaches you how to recreate a beautiful painting. No painting experience required.
Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. The cost is $30, and includes all materials for an 11 x 14 painting (or $35 for a 16 x 20 painting). The workshops start at 7 pm and lasts two and a half hours. On August 14, our instructor will teach a painting of fall-time birch trees in a red and golden afternoon.

The Fab Four: The Solo Years with Macon Pops

Summer Serenade: An Evening of Musical Artistry and Culinary Delight
We invite you to the perfect ADULT only Friday evening outing. Be a part of history as you step back in time with us at the historic Ruth Hartley Mosely Women’s Center for an exciting evening of delightful cuisine, and musical artistry.
The evening will feature pre-event mixer of lite bites, musical entertainment, followed by fine dining. Perhaps a twirl or two on the floor as some may choose to show us their moves.
Mrs. Mosely born in 1886 was a stalwart leader in the Middle Georgia Community where she served as a nurse with the Bibb County Health Department and Bibb County Schools. She pursued opportunities to enhance women, as well as served as a mentor to our youth and assisting them with job placements. Mrs. Mosely also left behind a trust to continue her mission of helping needy students who wished to become nurses or enter other areas of the healthcare field. Indeed, she was committed to her community.
It is an honour to host the event at her home- We would love to have you with us. Proceeds from the event will help to preserve her legacy!

The Museum of Arts and Sciences presents their current exhibit, “Quilts, Textiles, and Fabric Arts”!
Highlights from the Museum’s Permanent and Education Collections curated to contrast the traditional art of quilt making with modern textiles and fiber arts, plus works on loan from regional artists and a recent acquisition from nationally recognized contemporary fiber artist Judy Bales.

Readers of all ages are invited to attend Nancy Drew Confidential; a free, three-part series at Washington Memorial Library discussing the iconic teenage detective, Nancy Drew, and her mystery stories.
All Generations of Readers are welcome to take a deeper dive into your favorite vintage mystery series – Nancy Drew! Guest speaker, Paige Henson, has been sleuthing out the origins and intricacies of our favorite detective. Come to our second of three discussions on August 17th from 5:30 to 6:30pm to hear about the indomitable spirit and lasting legacy of Nancy Drew.

Watercolor & Wine
Learn to create two postcard-sized watercolor paintings in a fun, relaxed setting. No painting or drawing experience required. Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. Artist Jenn Morris will help you gain confidence in watercolor with a quick practice painting, then guide you through the steps to create small paintings of seashells and crabs. $35 includes all materials for the workshop ($28 for members of The 567). August 19, 7:00-9:00 pm.
About the Instructor
Jenn Morris has loved arts and crafts her entire life and learned painting basics from her artist grandfather at a very young age. While her grandfather specialized in oil painting, Jenn’s favorite medium is watercolor. She has been practicing for several years and enjoys sharing it with others.

Art of Science: The Sounds of Appalachia
The Museum of Arts and Sciences is kicking off a BRAND NEW Lecture Performance Series this summer titled “The Art of Science”!
Come learn about the Sciences through Art! You might find they rely on each other more than you thought! This series is for all ages, but is specifically for our life-long learners who want to learn something new this summer!
Learn about the musical traditions of the Appalachia with Raptor Manager, Pete Griffin, and STEAM Curator, Xandrya Edwards. Hear the sounds of Appalachian musical instruments, learn to read shape notes, and sing with us as we learn the science and history behind this long-held folk music tradition You will not want to miss this program on August 19th at 7 p.m.!
