First Laurens Bank, a Division of BankSouth, announced the retirement of President Ben Bradshaw, marking the conclusion of an extraordinary 49-year career in banking and a lifetime of service to Laurens County and its surrounding communities.

Bradshaw’s banking career began nearly five decades ago with C&S Bank. Throughout the years, he held leadership roles at C&S Bank and Farmers and Merchants Bank before joining First Laurens Bank as President. His steady leadership, commitment to customer relationships, and dedication to community banking have helped shape the institution and positively impact generations of customers and employees.

“Ben has made such a positive impact on so many in this community,” said Bill Brown, Market President of Dublin/Laurens County. “Ben’s heart for people, our customers, our employees, and our community has made the deepest impact. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service.”

Outside of banking, Bradshaw is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasures time with his six grandchildren. He is a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, a retired member of the Exchange Club, and a baseball enthusiast from Little League to the major leagues. Many know him affectionately as “Mr. Joe” at the local Chick-fil-A, a testament to the friendships and connections he has formed wherever he goes.

Bradshaw shared, “I am truly thankful for my banking career that enabled me to work in a profession that I have such a passion for. I also have been blessed to have dedicated employees who are my First Laurens – BankSouth family. What I will miss the most are all my co-workers and my loyal customers and friends.”

In retirement, Bradshaw looks forward to spending more time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s activities. He will also throw in a few baseball trips with his family and friends. He looks forward to enjoying the community he has served so faithfully for nearly half a century.
