Middle Georgia Peach Season Brings Good Size Despite Weather Challenges

Peach growers in Middle Georgia are navigating a 2026 season shaped by warm winter weather, late spring frost and recent heavy rain.

Lane Southern Orchards farm manager Tyler Wainwright says this year’s harvest was overall good, starting in February. But due to the recent heavy rainfall, it did impact the transition of peaches from the farm to the packing stations to the retail store.

“And we’ve had a good bit of rain, so we’ve got good size with the fruit,” he said. “The main thing is just trying to be done before the heat of the day.”
