Metro Warner Robins Job and Labor Force Gains in June; Unemployment Rises to 3.5%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Warner Robins Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded labor force and job gains in June, with an unemployment rate of 3.5%, up six-tenths of a percentage point over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.4%.
“June brings the temporary seasonal changes we see every year as schools let out for the summer, but as Georgia’s workforce continues to grow, our year-over-year trends remain stable,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “Short-term fluctuations are normal in a resilient economy, and the bigger picture is clear: Georgia remains a state where opportunity is within reach, hard work is rewarded, and every Georgian has the chance to build a better life.”
The labor force in Warner Robins was up by 327 over the month and ended June at 90,174. That number decreased by 120 over the year.
Warner Robins finished June with 87,030 employed residents, down 191 over the month and 178 over the year.
Warner Robins ended June with 77,700 jobs, up 200 over the month and down by 1,500 over the year.
In June, initial unemployment claims increased by eight over the month and by four over the year, totaling 245.
