Macon Bibb County firefighters are giving back to the community in a big way, raising thousands of dollars for a local children’s hospital.

For the first time in seven years, firefighters created a health and fitness calendar to support the Navicent Health Foundation, benefiting Atrium Health’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital.

On Friday morning, firefighters presented a check for 20 thousand dollars during a ceremony held inside the hospital lobby.

Foundation leaders say the effort stood out as a unique and creative way to give back.
