GDOT Proposes $7 Million to Expand Truck Parking on I-75 in Monroe County

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced plans to add 59 truck parking spaces on Interstate 75 in Monroe County as part of its four-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, a $7 million investment.
The project, which is currently open for public comment through Aug. 15, will expand parking at the northbound weigh station and Rest Area 22 southbound.
The weigh station project, estimated at approximately $4 million, will add 23 spaces and begin construction this fall. The Rest Area 22 project, budgeted at $2 million, will add 36 spaces with construction set to begin in early summer 2027. GDOT officials said construction on each project is expected to take approximately 12 months.
