'Business Almost Doubles' Thousands Gather in Perry for Youth World Horse Barrel Racing Championships

Thousands of riders, families and spectators are in Perry this week as the Georgia National Fairgrounds hosts the Youth World Horse Barrel Racing Championships, an event that is drawing competitors from across the United States and overseas while giving local businesses a boost.
The championships, which have been held in Perry since 2012, attract about 5,000 people during the 10-day event, according to fairgrounds officials.
"It's nationally and even internationally, we have people here from Australia, Italy, out west, even local, there's a Georgia team out here," said Addie Hodges with the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
