‘We Didn’t Move Here for This’ - Residents Push Back on Monroe County Industrial Rezoning

A rezoning decision in Monroe County is drawing strong reactions from residents who say future industrial development could disrupt their neighborhood and property values.
The Monroe County Planning and Zoning Board voted 3-0 on May 26 to approve a request to rezone nearly 19 acres on Town Creek Road from agricultural-residential to light manufacturing. The property, owned by the Dumas family since 1950, sits near the Juliette Crossing subdivision and other industrial businesses.
