Warner Robins Fencing Class Promotes Health Through Mayor's Wellness Initiative

Warner Robins residents picked up swords and learned the basics of fencing Saturday as part of Mayor LaRhonda Patrick's effort to promote healthier lifestyles across the city.

The class, hosted by the Warner Robins Fencing Society, was one of several events included in the Mayor's Health Initiative, a citywide program designed to encourage health and wellness among residents.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Georgia, claiming more than 28,000 lives each year. State health officials say regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure.
