United Way of Central Georgia and Macon-Bibb County announced that this year’s United We Dine for Brookdale raised more than $16,000 in support of the Brookdale Resource Center.

The community-wide fundraiser brought together more than 40 restaurants, coffee shops, small businesses, and residents across Central Georgia to support struggling individuals and families at Brookdale. Participating businesses donated a portion of their sales to Brookdale, while community members showed their support by dining out, grabbing coffee, shopping locally, and helping spread the word.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our participating businesses and every person who supported United We Dine,” saidAlison Bender, Executive Director of the Brookdale Resource Center. “This donation will provide food for five families of five for one month, or three meals a day for 50 people for one month. That is a meaningful and immediate impact for the families and individuals we serve every day at Brookdale.”

“I’m amazed at the outpouring of support by our local restaurants to help support Brookdale residents,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “Thank you to everyone who ate at one of these great places that day and contributed to a better future for families and children.”

The Brookdale Resource Center provides shelter, meals, case management, and supportive services to individuals and families working toward long-term stability. Since opening, Brookdale has served more than 5,000 people, including more than 1,000 children, by helping them access resources and move toward permanent housing.

United We Dine for Brookdale highlights the power of local businesses and residents coming together around a shared commitment to care for neighbors in need.

United Way of Central Georgia and Macon-Bibb County extend their sincere thanks to every restaurant, coffee shop, small business, and community member who participated in this year’s event. Their support helped turn everyday meals and purchases into meaningful help for families at Brookdale.
