In April, Macon-Bibb County contracted with Citylogix to conduct a comprehensive sidewalk analysis across the county as part of its Paving the Way program. Citylogix is assessing and collecting information on about 350 miles of sidewalk and more than 7,500 accessibility ramps throughout the County.

The work to assess the ramps began in May and both ramps and sidewalk analysis are expected to be done by the end of July. Media is invited to interview a team member from Citylogix and get b-roll of the team in action on Wednesday, June 17, at 9:00 a.m. in front of Memorial Park Recreation Center (2465 Second Street). Mayor Lester Miller will also be available on site. 

“This work helps us better understand what we have and where we need to go,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “It’s about making our community safer and more accessible for everyone.”

Using advanced technology and mapping tools, Citylogix will create a detailed inventory of sidewalks throughout Macon-Bibb. This data will give the County a clearer picture of current conditions and help guide future planning and investments.

Citylogix has developed an e-scooter-based approach that captures all the necessary sidewalk distresses. It uses high-resolution imaging to collect sidewalk video and identify distresses such as cracks, surface distortions, general uplifts, and tree uplifts. A mobile phone and high-grade camera with built-in GPS control the data collection.

Data collected is processed to assign an overall condition rating to each sidewalk, on a scale of 0 to 100 — where 0 is the worst possible sidewalk and 100 is the best.

Macon-Bibb also worked with Citylogix to analyze its 1,100 of city-owned, paved streets. Every road segment was rated on a scale of 1-100, and roads were selected for this list based on the following criteria:

• Roads rated 30 and below.
• Arterial and collector roads rated below 40.
• Connecting, nearby roads rated between 30 and 55.
• Well-trafficked roads in industrial areas.

Since work began in the Summer of 2025, 890 segments of 356 roads have been repaved for a total of 120.1 miles.
