Mercer University Tears Down Final Wall of Nearly 70-Year-Old Connell Student Center to Make Way for New Building

A final goodbye was said to a familiar part of Mercer University's campus in Macon on Saturday.

Crews with Sheridan Construction tore down the last standing wall of the Connell Student Center (CSC), marking the end of an era for a building that served students for nearly 70 years.

The CSC opened in 1958 and became the hub of campus life, housing, dining, student activities and gathering spaces for generations of Mercer students over the years.
