Macon-Bibb County leaders are asking residents and business owners to weigh in on a proposed project aimed at making Downtown Macon more walkable, bike-friendly, and accessible.

The county's Urban Development Authority has launched a public survey featuring renderings of a possible redesign of Third Street between Plum and Walnut streets. The proposal includes wider sidewalks, dedicated bike lanes, improved lighting, public art, and loading zones.

Officials say once the survey closes, public feedback will be used to refine the designs and complete engineering plans.

"We want to improve conditions for walkability and the business environment, particularly improving accessibility and shade," county leaders said.
