Eleven Bibb Schools 'Beating the Odds' for Student Success
Monday, June 1st, 2026
Recently, the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement released its latest “Beating the Odds” analysis of Georgia’s schools, and 11 Bibb County School District schools were highlighted. The list of schools is based on the state’s College and Career Ready Performance Index from 2025 and spanned all grade levels.
The District had nine elementary schools, one middle school and one high school recognized as “Beating the Odds.” This included Bernd Elementary School, Bruce Elementary School, Burdell-Hunt Elementary School, Sonny
Carter Elementary School, Ingram-Pye Elementary School, McKibben Lane Elementary School, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, Southfield Elementary School, L.H. Williams Elementary School, Miller Magnet Middle
School and Howard High School.
“Our school teams are working hard each and every day to achieve success for all of our students, and these ‘Beating the Odds’ designations are proof positive of that work,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan A. Sims. “We will
continue to seek ways to make sure that our students are prepared for their next level, whatever that may be, and we are grateful to see these schools receiving state-level recognition for their dedication.”
This designation honored schools that out-performed schools across the state with similar demographics related to socioeconomics, race, student disability and other factors. GOSA uses the performance data for those similar schools to create an expected range of CCRPI scores, and each school noted as “Beating the Odds” performed above that range.
