A daily commute through downtown Macon had become a source of frustration for Faye Goodrum Cook.

Each day, she drove through the intersection of Hawthorne Street and Hazel Street and watched drivers scramble to change lanes at the last second after realizing they were in a right-turn-only lane.

"It's all the way here, so by the time they get here they're coming over into your lane and I've almost been hit at least three to four times and then the people look at me like I'm in the wrong, but I'm not. I'm in my correct lane," Goodrum Cook said.
