More than 200 new homes could soon rise in rural Elko.
This comes after the Houston County Commission voted 3-1 Tuesday to rezone 346 acres along Elko Road.
The decision drew boos and tension from dozens of residents as they left the meeting. Elko's population is about 1,500 people, meaning 200 new homes could significantly boost the area's numbers.
