reSISTERS
Macon Arts Alliance is excited to present their April show, “reSISTERS”, featuring works by mixed media artist She Keene. In “reSISTERS”, Keene creates abstract and figurative mixed media pieces that collage historic photographs of early suffragists, layered with both bold and fading text; words that reflect the rights and freedoms people are still fighting to claim today.
The opening reception is Friday, April 3 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Sidney's Salon w/ Ann Litrel + Charles Seabrook, “35 Natural Wonders of GA”
Join us for a presentation with the author and artist duo behind “35 Natural Wonders of Georgia to See Before You Die.”
35 Natural Wonders of Georgia to See Before You Die:
An illustrated bucket list of the many natural wonders of Georgia.
The expression “natural wonders” can often conjure images of far-flung destinations like the Grand Canyon, the peaks of the Rockies, or Niagara Falls. Yet Georgia, the largest state east of the Mississippi, is home to a wealth of wonders that rival any found beyond its borders. Such wonders include the Altamaha River, Georgia’s own untamed Amazon; Providence Canyon, the “little Grand Canyon”; Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest peak and only cloud forest; and the vast, hauntingly beautiful Okefenokee Swamp.
Based on noted science journalist Charles Seabrook’s personal bucket list and artist Ann Litrel’s insightful watercolors and sketches, 35 Natural Wonders of Georgia to See before You Die offers a fresh take on Georgia’s natural beauty in the tradition of naturalists such as John James Audubon and William Bartram. Each of the thirty-five sites is introduced by paintings, field sketches, artist notes, and elegant science writing that highlight its unique attributes. The book captures the beauty and rich natural history of Georgia’s biological and geological treasures—inspiring leisure travelers, nature enthusiasts, and art lovers to explore these places on their own.

Resin Butterfly Suncatcher Workshop
Create something light-catching and beautiful with epoxy resin in this beginner-friendly class! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design a sun-catcher using a butterfly-shaped wooden cutout and vibrant, transparent resin.
You’ll learn how to properly mix resin, tint it with a variety of translucent pigments, and carefully fill each section of the butterfly’s wings to create your own custom color story. After the resin cures, it will allow light to shine through—bringing your piece to life when displayed in a window or bright space.
This class is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to try their hand at epoxy resin in a fun, relaxed, creative environment. Each butterfly will be pre-painted black on one side, white on the other. No prior experience is needed. Class is taught by Malissa Kelsey of MADE by MK.
$40 includes all materials for 1 butterfly sun catcher ($34 for members). Open to ages 18 & up. April 24, 6:00-8:30 pm.
