Andrea Cooke was officially sworn in on Monday, April 20, during a ceremony surrounded by family, friends, and community members. She now represents District 5 following the vacancy left earlier this year by former Commissioner Seth Clark.

“I am incredibly honored and deeply grateful to have been elected to serve District 5. This moment is not just about me, it reflects the voices, the hopes, and the resilience of our community,” said Cooke.

Cooke is a marriage and family therapist and is a familiar face in the community, known for her leadership and advocacy work across Macon-Bibb. She has been actively involved in several local initiatives, including serving as Board Chair of Friends of Rosa Parks Square, helping support the space as a place for connection and reflection in downtown Macon.

As she steps into this role, Cooke brings a strong background in community engagement and a focus on equity and opportunity for residents. She was one of the co-founders for Macon Periods Easier, a non-profit aimed to bring awareness to period poverty. She also helped create an ordinance that became the first in the state of Georgia, requiring all County-owned restrooms to have accessible period products for women.

“As someone who has already dedicated so much time and energy to serving our community, I know Andrea will bring passion and a strong sense of purpose to this role,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “District 5 is in good hands, and I look forward to working with her as we continue moving Macon-Bibb forward together.”

Her swearing-in marks the beginning of a new chapter for District 5, with an emphasis on continued growth and representation.

“I am looking forward to getting to work on the things that matter most, strengthening public safety, expanding access to mental health care, creating real opportunities for economic growth, and making sure every family in our district feels seen, supported, and valued,” said Cooke.
