Projects Awarded in East-Central Georgia

Tennille, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Transportation recently awarded new contracts for projects in the agency’s east-central Georgia district.

The largest contract, valued at $9.99 million, will rehabilitate concrete on I-20 in Greene and Taliaferro counties, beginning near SR 15/Milepost 136 and extending to SR 22/Exit 148. Pittman Construction Company has been awarded this project. A completion date of January 31, 2027 has been given.

In Emanuel County, the bridge on McGarrh Mill Pond Rd. over Daniel Mill Creek will be replaced. The existing bridge, constructed in 1959, is structurally deficient. Gregory Bridge Company has been awarded this $1.65 million project. During construction, the road will be closed, and an offsite detour will be implemented. The closure is expected to last about five months. However, the start date has not been determined yet. A completion date of March 31, 2027 has been given.

In McDuffie County, about two miles of SR 12/US 278 will be resurfaced, beginning near Ansley Rd./Mt Pleasant Rd. and extending to the Thomson Bypass. All Star Concrete, Inc. has been awarded this $858 thousand project. A completion date of January 31, 2027 has been given.

Railroad signage and pavement markings will be upgraded at various crossings in Baldwin, Jasper, Morgan, Putnam, Washington, and Wilkinson counties. Peek Pavement Marking, LLC has been awarded this $781 thousand project. A completion date of February 28, 2027 has been given.
