On Tuesday, March 24, Barton Malow + Sheridan hosted an information session for subcontractors and suppliers to introduce the New Macon Arena project, including its scope, schedule, and trade bid opportunities. More than 100 people came out to the Macon Centreplex to hear firsthand about the opportunities available.

“This arena won’t be just a venue, it will be a destination and major economic engine that creates opportunities, attracts visitors, and keeps our city competitive for years to come,” said Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller. “Along with the Atrium Health Amphitheater and the recently renovated Macon City Auditorium, we are changing the entire entertainment, event, and sports landscape for the region and state.”

Barton Malow + Sheridan made numerous local connections during the session and added interested bidders to the packages currently out for bid. They are tracking about 60 bid packages related to the arena.

Macon-Bibb County’s Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) also supported the program by reaching out to current Macon-Bibb vendors to make them aware of the event and the opportunity to be part of the project.

“A project of this size does not come along very often, and we want to make sure our local, small, and minority businesses have a chance to submit competitive bids and be involved from the very beginning,” said OSBA Director Charise Stephens-Merriweather.

There will be three additional information sessions later this summer, later this year, and in spring 2027. If you want to learn more about bid opportunities with Barton Malow + Sheridan, click here.
