Junior League of Macon launches Little Black Dress Initiative to Raise Awareness, Funds to Combat Poverty
Wednesday, March 11th, 2026
The Junior League of Macon is launching a weeklong campaign aimed at raising awareness about poverty and supporting community programs that assist women and families.
Members of the organization’s Provisional Class will participate in the Little Black Dress Initiative, an awareness and fundraising campaign in which participants wear the same black dress for five consecutive days to illustrate the limiting effects poverty can have on a woman’s choices, resources and opportunities.
The campaign will take place March 8–14 throughout Macon. During the week, participants will wear the same dress along with a pin reading “Ask Me About My Dress” to encourage conversations about poverty and how the community can support solutions.
