Downtown Macon Adds Outreach Specialist to Assist Unhoused Residents

A new outreach specialist is now walking the streets of Downtown Macon, working to build relationships with unhoused residents and connect them with services as the city tries a more hands-on approach to addressing homelessness.
The position is funded by the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) and operates through the Block by Block ambassador program. The BID is supported by an additional assessment paid by downtown property owners, with those funds restricted to projects and services within the district.
