Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026

Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) will open its doors to the community on Wednesday, March 4, with a drop-in open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., celebrating the completion of its new, state-of-the-art lab spaces for Electric Vehicle (EV) Automotive and Mechatronics on the Milledgeville campus.

Completed just ahead of the spring semester, the new labs will be open for guided tours throughout the event, offering visitors an up-close look at the cutting-edge technology and hands-on learning environments shaping the future of Georgia’s workforce. Interested students and industry partners are encouraged to meet with program staff and learn about course offerings.
"This central and vital city to the growing economy of Georgia is home to immense pride for the state, hard-working people, and outstanding communities,” said, Mike Pace, dean for Aerospace, Trade and Industry at CGTC. “What is ahead for the region is innovation in automation, manufacturing, and the future of electric vehicle technicians, all making a positive mark on Georgia’s workforce development.”

The open house welcomes community members, industry partners, and prospective students alike, with high school students already scheduled to be on campus touring facilities that day. Guests will be offered light refreshments to re-charge their own batteries.  \

The new instructional spaces are the result of a $6.5 million investment from the State of Georgia, positioning Milledgeville and Baldwin County—strategically located between I-75 and I-20—as a growing hub for education and training in hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. The renovated facilities will house programs in Industrial Mechatronics and Advanced Manufacturing, Electric Vehicle Service Technician, and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Technician, underscoring CGTC’s commitment to innovation, workforce readiness, and the evolving needs of Georgia’s economy.
