First Friday: Photography and Mixed Media Artist Stephanie Eley
ECHOES OF RESILIENCE: Excerpts from three series—Invisible to Others, America’s Backbone, and Afronauts—together form a continuum of becoming, revealing how identity is shaped, protected, and reclaimed across multiple dimensions of experience
First Friday, 5-8 PM with Artist’s Gallery Talk at 6PM
Echoes of Resilience brings forward stories often overshadowed in dominant cultural narratives, weaving them into a visual language of power, testimony, and transformation. Through portraiture, documentary imagery, reinterpretations of iconic sculpture, and interviews, the artist constructs a space where visibility becomes a form of liberation.
ELEY is a visual artist working in photography and mixed media whose practice centers the lived experiences, histories, and inner worlds of Black and brown communities. Through conceptual portraiture, documentary work, and reinterpreted cultural iconography, she explores themes of visibility, identity, memory, and resilience. Her work aims to challenge dominant narratives and expand pathways for representation in contemporary art.
