Storytellers Macon Presents: NEW SHOES
There’s something about new shoes — they’re exciting, a little uncomfortable, and full of promise. New Shoes is about stepping into something unfamiliar and figuring out how to walk in it. It’s about first days, bold choices, awkward beginnings, and the moments when you realized you were headed somewhere new… even if you weren’t quite ready.
Maybe it was a new job, a new relationship, a new role, or a version of yourself you hadn’t met yet. Maybe the shoes pinched, gave you blisters, or took you somewhere completely unexpected. These stories can be funny, vulnerable, triumphant, or tender — because growth rarely fits perfectly at first.

Join us for a night of stories about taking the leap, finding your footing, and discovering where your new shoes carried you.

As always, audience members will also have the chance to share their own 5-minute true stories on the theme. Stories are uncensored and authentic—except for hate speech, which is not permitted.

Intro to Oil Painting
In this six-week course, you can learn the foundations of oil painting with Molly Fox. You’ll find yourself becoming more comfortable with this popular medium as you complete 2–3 finished pieces in this hands-on, beginner-friendly class! Each project is completed over two sessions—one for planning and block-ins, and one for layering and final details.

Throughout the course, we’ll explore essential techniques like alla prima, glazing, and underpainting, plus how to choose and use different mediums for blending, texture, and drying control. We’ll also cover safe studio practices so you feel confident working with oils at home. By the end of six weeks, you’ll walk away with multiple completed paintings and a strong understanding of how to create with oils on your own.

No painting experience required. Ages 18 and up. The cost is $190, and includes all materials. Meets Thursdays, 6:00-8:30 pm, starting January 15.

About the instructor:
Molly Fox is a self-taught painter whose dreamy, whimsical style — which she calls whimpressionism — blends emotion, color, and imagination. Living with chronic illness and partial blindness, she creates from a place of deep feeling and quiet resilience. She primarily paints in oil and acrylic, with a growing interest in other mediums like oil pastels and mixed media. Molly has exhibited her work in group shows such as the Small Works Exhibition and Blossom Exhibition at Macon Arts Alliance, as well as the Rainbow Show at Macon ArtSpace. Her first solo show opens in September 2025 at Milledgeville Allied Arts. Molly is also a teaching artist who leads workshops, paint parties, and children’s art events through local creative communities.
