'We Wanted To Keep Bearfoot The Way It Was' | Downtown Macon Restaurant Reopens After 17-Month Rebuild

More than a year after a storm caused its roof to collapse, Bearfoot Tavern is preparing to welcome customers back to downtown Macon with an expanded entertainment venue and familiar favorites on the menu.
The popular tavern, which first opened in 2011, closed in July 2024 when severe weather caused the back half of the roof to cave in. Manager Mark Bell said staff members were shocked when they arrived to assess the damage and found the back of the restaurant flooded.
