The Leadership Georgia Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Angel Touwsma as Manager of Programming and Events. Touwsma brings experience in marketing, event planning, and leadership development to the role. The announcement was made by Jamie McCurry, Leadership Georgia chair. The Chason Group led the executive search for the Leadership Georgia Board.

“Angel brings more than 30 years of professional experience in marketing, event management, and leadership development to this important role,” said McCurry. “She has a deep history with Leadership Georgia and an extraordinary passion for connecting people through meaningful experiences. Her background and enthusiasm make her the perfect fit to lead our statewide programming efforts.”

A Leadership Georgia alumna from the Class of 2013, Touwsma has remained actively involved with the organization for over a decade. She served as Program Chair in 2014 and later as a member of the Board of Trustees from 2016 to 2019. Her long- standing commitment to the organization’s mission has given her valuable insight into what makes Leadership Georgia’s programs both impactful and inspiring.

Professionally, Touwsma most recently served as Director of Marketing and Programs for the Council of State Governments (CSG South), where she played a pivotal role in leadership events such as the Southern Legislative Conference, an annual gathering of more than 2,000 attendees from across the Southeast. In this capacity, she managed staff, vendors, and budgets, while developing innovative programming that fostered collaboration among state legislators and civic leaders.

Touwsma’s career also includes leadership roles with Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Taste of Atlanta, and Limetree, a boutique retail brand she co-founded and grew to six locations with more than $10 million in annual revenue. Known for her organizational precision and creative flair—coined “the Angel touch” by colleagues—she has built a reputation for delivering events that are both seamless and memorable.

A graduate of the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science degree and the University of South Carolina with a Master of Education in Student Personnel Services, Touwsma has also served as Vice President of the Executive Committee for the College of Charleston Alumni Board and held numerous volunteer leadership positions with the Junior League of Atlanta and Delta Delta Delta National Sorority.

“I am incredibly honored to step into this role,” Touwsma said. “Leadership Georgia has shaped me in countless ways—both professionally and personally. I’m excited to continue that legacy by helping design programs that inspire connection, growth, and service among leaders across our state.”
