Commission Approves Next Step for Pleasant Hill Affordable Housing Project
Friday, December 19th, 2025
On Tuesday, December 17, the Macon-Bibb County Commission voted to approve a funding agreement that moves the Pleasant Hill affordable housing project one step closer to reality. The agreement provides $1.4 million from 2025 HOME Funds and Community Development Block Grant funds to support the project.
“This project is about more than buildings, it’s about people and the future of Pleasant Hill,” said Mayor Miller. “We’ve made housing a priority from day one, and investments like this help us turn long-vacant property into safe, quality homes for families in our community.”
Commissioners authorized Mayor Lester Miller to execute an agreement with Pleasant Hill Landing, LP for the construction of a new multi-family housing development at 151 Madison Street.
It will include three three-story multi-family buildings and is designed to serve families while supporting long-term revitalization in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood.
The new development will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom units that are income-restricted under federal guidelines, while also contributing to a more mixed-income housing environment.
The housing units will be built where the former Macon Charter Academy once stood. The long-vacant building had become a safety concern after sitting empty for nearly eight years.
Construction is expected to begin in the next couple of months. Pleasant Hill Landing, LP is a not-for-profit affiliate of In-Fill Housing II, LLC and the Macon Housing Authority, and is focused on creating high-quality, affordable housing.
