Goodwill Middle Georgia Donation Centers Now Accepting Food Alongside Gently Used Goods to Help Local Families

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, November 7th, 2025

This holiday season, Goodwill of Middle Georgia is making it easier for neighbors across Middle Georgia to help families facing food insecurity. In partnership with Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, all Goodwill donation centers in the region are now accepting nonperishable food items through December 31.

Community members can drop off food alongside their gently used goods—making Goodwill a one-stop location for giving back this season. All donated food will be distributed by Middle Georgia Community Food Bank to help local families, while donated goods support Goodwill’s mission of building lives, families, and communities through education, job training, and career services.

“We know that many families are struggling to put food on the table this time of year,” said James K. Stiff, President of Goodwill of Middle Georgia. “By partnering with Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, we can make it easier for our community to meet those immediate needs while continuing our long-term work, helping people gain the skills and confidence to build stable, self-sustaining careers.”

Donors can bring most-needed non-perishable food items such as canned proteins (tuna, chicken, beans), vegetables, rice, pasta, peanut butter, and cereal to any Goodwill donation center in Middle Georgia. Food and goods will be collected throughout the holiday season.

“We’re deeply grateful for Goodwill’s support. Our work simply wouldn’t be possible without the community’s involvement," said Kathy McCollum, President and CEO of the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. "The need right now is extraordinary; we’d have to do seven times more just to keep up. To put it in perspective, for every meal a food bank in Georgia provides, SNAP provides six.” Those in need can utilize the food pantry finder tool on Middle Georgia Community Food Bank’s website by visiting mgcfb.org.

Goodwill’s retail training stores, Helms College, and Edgar’s Hospitality Group work together to help people discover and develop their God-given gifts. Every donation and every purchase supports scholarships, skills training, and hands-on education that empower individuals to earn paychecks, support their families, and strengthen our local economy.
