PSRB Kicks of Pedestrian Safety Month with Summit
Monday, October 6th, 2025
On Wednesday, October 1, the Pedestrian Safety Review Board (PSRB) held the 2025 Pedestrian Safety Month Summit at the Bibb County Professional Learning Center to kick off Pedestrian Safety Month.
“It was great to engage with stakeholders during the pedestrian safety summit,” said PSRB Chair Greg Brown. “A wealth of information was presented to attendees, and a wealth of information was received from attendees. It was wonderful to feel the positive energy throughout the room, with one goal in mind—to keep pedestrians safe.”
Community members were invited to learn about the history of the PSRB, ongoing safety initiatives, hear from local experts and officials, and share concerns and ideas for safer neighborhoods.
“This month was designated because October has historically been one of the deadliest months for pedestrian-vehicle crashes in the United States,” said PSRB Event Organizer Charise Stephens. “This year, the PSRB proudly commemorates 10 years of uniting community partners to strategize, collaborate, and advocate for safer streets. Together, we continue working to protect lives and create a safer future for all who walk, bike, and drive in our community.”
Attendance at this year’s Summit doubled from last year. Attendees heard updates from Mayor Lester Miller, the Macon-Bibb County Engineering Department, Bibb County School District, Bike Walk Macon, and more.
The PSRB also recognized long-time supporter and advocate for pedestrian safety, Elaine Lucas, for ten years of leadership and dedication to the cause.
“Elaine Lucas has been an advocate for many causes, but her passion for pedestrian safety stands out,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “Her leadership has been instrumental in the success of our Pedestrian Safety Review Board, and we are deeply grateful for her dedication to making Macon-Bibb County safer for everyone.”
