Emergency Funding Saves Macon Pops Christmas Spectacular

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025

Macon Pops is proud to announce that the 2025 Macon Pops Christmas Spectacular will go on as planned in downtown Macon, thanks to generous support from local foundations and community partners including The Josephine Phelps Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, The Peyton Anderson Foundation, Knight Foundation, and Middle Georgia State University.

Each year, Macon Pops provides the free, live concert event that kicks off the Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza, and composes, records, and produces all the music synchronized to the 1 million+ lights that transform downtown Macon into a magical holiday experience throughout the season. This massive musical and technical undertaking is made entirely possible by local support, and it’s offered to the public at no cost.

But this year, rising production costs placed the entire event at risk.

“We were incredibly close to having to step away from this year’s Spectacular,” said Steve Moretti, CEO and Co-Founder of Macon Pops. “Thanks to emergency funding from some wonderful local foundations, we’re able to move forward this year and continue this cherished holiday tradition for the community.”

Macon Pops extends heartfelt thanks to the organizations and individuals whose support ensures that the Spectacular remains a highlight of Macon’s holiday season, free and accessible to all.

The Macon Pops Christmas Spectacular is more than a concert; it’s the start of the holiday season in downtown Macon, drawing tens of thousands of locals and visitors alike to experience the joy, wonder, and community spirit of this unique event.

While this year’s Christmas celebration is fully funded, community support remains vital to sustaining Macon Pops’ year-round performances and educational outreach. To learn more about upcoming events and how you can help keep the music playing across our full season, visit MaconPops.com/donation or follow Macon Pops on social media.
